Anniston associates give back

Giving back to the community has long been a part of the National Gypsum culture. For Anniston associates, volunteering with the United Way of East Central Alabama has provided an opportunity to help those in need while reinforcing a true team spirit.

On August 20th, nine associates participated in the United Way’s Day of Action. For the event, the associates helped pack meal boxes to be distributed to local nonprofits that feed those in need.

Plant Manager, Neal Stephenson, is a longtime volunteer with the organization. Each year Stephenson arranges for a team from the plant to participate in the Day of Action. “It’s a great way to serve the community,” he explained. Stephenson credits the company culture for the continued support of the event. “When you are working as a team, you are looking to help others.”

“The National Gypsum team has been a supporter of United Way for many years, but seeing the team come out and participate with a hands-on volunteer event really means the world not only to our organization, but to our community as well,” said Shannon Jenkins, president and CEO of United Way of East Central Alabama.
