The National Association of Home Builders announced on January 8 that the PermaBASE CI™ Insulated Cement Board product was a finalist in the 2020 Best of the International Builders’ Show (IBS) award contest. The PermaBASE team will exhibit at IBS, the world’s largest construction tradeshow, January 21-23 in Las Vegas and formally launch the PermaBASE CI product to the residential construction industry.

National Gypsum was recognized along with other companies, including AeroBarrier, Enginuity Power Systems, JELD-WEN Windows & Doors and VELUX America Inc., for offering one of the most energy-efficient products of the year. Over 350 product entries in nine categories were judged by 28 industry and media representatives. Finalists were evaluated on criteria such as innovation, functionality and design. The winner of the category will be announced at the conclusion of the show on January 23.

“The PermaBASE team works hard to bring the latest product innovations to the market for customers, and we are thrilled PermaBASE CI continues to gain traction with contractors and that our efforts are being recognized nationally,” said Cement Board General Manager David Drummond.

PermaBASE CI is a composite cement board that combines the strength and benefits of PermaBASE with rigid insulation to create an ideal substrate for exterior finishes and meets or exceeds energy code requirements in all seven climate zones across the country with an R-value of R-10.

“Using PermaBASE CI Insulated Cement Board as a substrate for exterior finishes can reduce total installed costs by 20 to 25 percent,” said Tony Fuller, product manager for PermaBASE. “Given the construction industry’s evolving energy code requirements, this is good news for builders, general contractors, specifiers, design-build professionals and architects.”
