Continuing Education

National Gypsum provides the architectural community continuing education credits through both online and onsite educational programs related to product application, technical standards and industry trends. All programs qualify for AIA learning units.

National Gypsum Certified Presenters facilitate educational programs on site. NGC Certified Presenters are also authorized to present on behalf of GREENGUARD Environmental Institute for the continuing education course "Healthy Indoor Air Quality By Design." On-line programs are sponsored through AEC Daily and Ron Blank & Associates.

AEC Daily   Gypsum Board: Beyond Recycled Content

AEC438
AIA/CES Learning units:
1HSW/SD/LU

Provides an overview of the characteristics of gypsum board that allow it to contribute to sustainably designed buildings, a look at methods for ensuring continued healthy indoor air and eliminating waste.

AEC Daily   Cement Board and Exterior Finishing Systems

AEC586
AIA/CES Learning units:
1HSW/SD/LU

Provides an overview of cement backer board, features and benefits, and versatile interior and exterior applications with a focus on exterior applications, including Cement Board Stucco Systems (CBSS) and Cement Board Masonry Veneer (CBMV). The program reviews CBSS and CBMV components and performance benefits.

McGraw Hill/Architecture Record   Acoustically Enhanced Gypsum Board: Designed
for High STC Wall Assemblies

AIA/CES Learning units:
1HSW/SD/LU

This course covers key acoustical terminology and third party recommendations for Sound Transmission Class-rated walls. Learn how acoustically enhanced gypsum compares with existing solutions for achieving higher STC ratings and decreasing sound transmission while increasing valuable square footage.

McGraw Hill/Architecture Record   Finishing Gypsum Board: Appearance and
Indoor Air Quality

AIA/CES Learning units:
1HSW/SD/LU

Understand trade terminology and applicable standards for specifying the final level of finish for gypsum board. In addition, this course reviews industry-accepted practices for maintaining Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) during construction and after occupancy and examines how finishing practices and products impact indoor environmental quality.

McGraw Hill/Architecture Record   High Performance Gypsum: Protect against Mold, Moisture and Exposure

AIA/CES Learning units:
1HSW/SD/LU

This course focuses on the superior performance characteristics of gypsum products manufactured with fiberglass facing, which replaces the paper facing typically used on gypsum board. In addition, participants will learn about the basic applications, attributes, advantages and limitations of each of the four common product types.

Ron Blank & Associates   Abuse and Impact Resistant Gypsum:
Stronger and Safer Walls

NGC09K
AIA/CES Learning units:
1HSW / LU

This course reviews the ASTM C 1629 test standard for abuse and impact resistant gypsum and uses this data to distinguish between abuse resistant and impact resistant gypsum board. Learn how to specify the appropriate gypsum board when a project requires abuse or impact resistant properties.

Ron Blank & Associates   Acoustically Enhanced Gypsum Board: Designed
for High STC Wall Assemblies

NGC09L
AIA/CES Learning units:
1HSW / LU

This course covers key acoustical terminology and third party recommendations for Sound Transmission Class-rated walls. Learn how acoustically enhanced gypsum compares with existing solutions for achieving higher STC ratings and decreasing sound transmission while increasing valuable square footage.
